Senator Plain testified before the insurance inquiry that he received while in control of the Republican election machinery at Albany, £2OOO annually each from the Equitable, Mutual and New York Life Insurance Companies. The money was used for the election ot office-holders friendly to the companies. London, Nov, 24-
The Daily 1 elegraph states with a view of influencing Senators against hostile legislation the Mutual Co. a lavishly furnished house to entertain legislators at Albany. It was known throughout the country as “ The House of Mirth.” The house is now for sale.
