The Declining Birth Rate.

A STRAIGHT PASTORAL LETTER.

Sydney, November 11.

The Anglican pastoral letter, in dealing with the question of the dedining birth-rate, says Christians may n«t claim rights in any degree while they repudiate the responsibilitif f of married life, and so degrade the holy state of matrimony and be at fruitful sounce of discontent, unfaith* fulness, and divorce.”

Dealing with the spread of Socialism in politics, the letter declares that the political danger of the future lies not in this or that theory, but in class prejudice and mistrust, which divides the community, and confuses the real question at issue.

The letter welcomes legitimate Biblical criticism, and deplores the widespread ignorance of the Scriptures.
