Our Annual Sports ' Meeting.

Fine weather only i* needed i*P assure a successful meeting on Thursday next at the Foxton Victoria F«fk. The nomination*, both in pedestrian and cycling events,' are unusually large, while there is plepty of quality in their rank*. Campbell (champion mile runner), Morris (champion sprinter) and others should bring a large crowd of people, while Brunnctttf, Barrow, Jones, and Mayo are likely to the Cycling events interesting. In all probability, the Moutea Estate Cup will be won this year by McEweu, who has only to gain a place to secure the trophy, he having already piled up 19 points out of the required 20. Both the running and cycling tracks will be in splendid condition on the day. Thff Foxton Borough Brass Band has been engaged to discourse selections throughout the day. Refreshments will be supplied by Mr M. Perreau in his usual style, and altogether the outing should be enjoyable. Some* thing like 30 times the starter will be required to fire his pistol during the day, so the untiring committee will have plenty to do getting the events off to time. The special trains from north are sure to bring a host of holiday makers. Programmes in connect tion with the day’s doings are issued at 6d each. In the evening, the sue* cessful “ Sunbeams ” give one of their pleasing entertainments at the Public Hall, when the audience will be large. The items are all popular and in good hands. “ Has Been ” provides us with selections for the various event*:— '
