Baker, Frankland, otlles, Moore, Austin, Gray, Coley and flowbolt. / _ , The minutes of the last ordinary art® special meetings were read and con*-, firmed. reports.
The Inspector of Nuisances reported having sent many notices oat during the month re the insanity state of some yards, <2ue to bad drainage. The Potttid-keeper reported that 89 head of cattle had been impounded during the month, The Overseer reported works don* during the month, and suggested the following That a new oulvet be pat in Stewart street near clay pit, also one in the blind road off Wirokino road* That the boundary road, known ,as Whyte’s road, be trimmed up. That the enbankmen* opposite Mr B. Gower’s on No 1 Line be made good, The Borough Treasurer reported that sinoatho last monthly meeting of the Council the sum of £123 7s Sdbad besn paid into the District Fund Account, the credit balance now ■' standing At £569 18s lOd.
On the motion of the mayor, seconded by Mr Baker, the reports were adopted, and the accounts as read passed for payment;
RHSOLUTIONS. Rifle Club wrote asking * (haft money .to hand (£ls) bo granted them* —Proposed! by Or Stiles, seconded by Cr Baker, That the application of the Rifle Club be graced. Carried. Be Gray's bridge which recently fell* in, the Mayor proposed, a*d Cr Shim seconded, That the Council declines ft® recognise any liability itt- connection with same. Carried. . Correspondence was receive.'® Mr Henaesiy, representing the street ratepayers likely to come wK,“* • the water area, who wrote as to tv* water pressure from the river.—Prwr posed by Or Frankland, seconded tor Cr Moore, That Council reply to Mr Hennessy that the expert corroboration of Mr Gilberd has been obtained. Carried. ; - On the motion of Cr Au«tto» seconded by Cr Gray, it was decided to cot flown the tree overhanging front tfye Found reserve on to Johnston and Co.’s section.
TENDERS. The tender of Mr I. Fake, of Palmerston, was accepted for the con* crete bridge in the Avenue at the windmill. . Mr B. Spelman tendered for the lease of section 44 for 7 years, bet a. motion that bis tender be accepted wan negatived, a£>d an amendment that fresh tenders be called for the lease was carried on motion of the Mayor, seconded by K r Stiles.
