Washed up by the Waves.
The Auckland Herald states that a somewhat peculiar find was made at Port Charles, near Cabbage Bay, on Sunday, 15th, by some men who were passing along the beach. Noticing a boat beached there, they went t(J exl amine it and discovered it to be the hull of an 18ft yacht painted green, and bearing signs of having been a long time submerged. The discovery was reported to Detective Fahey, who visited the district, and he brought the news to town. The boat was minus . mast and sails, and presumably some current has disturbed it at the bottom of (he season, turning it over and thus emptying the ballast, the vessel then loatmg to the surlace and doming on 0 (he beach as stated, and in a practi•ally undamaged condition. It is supposed by the finders that the boat is Ihe one taken cut by the brothers Ryan, who were drowned in Hauraki ' Gulf at the end of last year. It will be remembered that the hrothdrSi ‘ Ryan and a young man named Wil» limns left Auckland shortly after. Christmas for a cruise along the coast in the yacht Slf&mrock. They left Kawau Island at the New Year, bound for the Barrier. Shortly after they left the island a terrific squall from the north-west broke over the gulf, during which it is supposed, the yacht capsized. The bodies of the young men were washed up at various places the coast.
