Manawatu County Council.

The ordinary monthly' meeting of the above was held at Sanson on Friday last. Present—Crs J. G. Wilson (chairman), Hammond, Robinson and Masters.

Inward correspondence was dealt with as follows:

From Hospital Board, requesting payment of balance of levy for 'lnfectious Disea'es Hospital, £SB ns 2d. From Treasury, stating that £4OO, half cost of construction of Milner’s line and cost of construction of Taikorea, Kellow’s and Pyke’s roads had been placed to Council’s credit.

From Allan Reid, Orona Downs, asking Council to lease him four acres adjoining roadman’s cottage at Himatangi, offering £4 per year for same.— Tenders to be called for letting it. From Horowhenua Council, asking what provision Council had made in regard to small bird also for a copy of heavy traffic by laws and any suggestions re same.—lt was decided that the Council procure ooisoned wheat to value of £lO for distribution free in May to any ratepayers. From H, Stewart, Feilding, stating that he is prepared to carry out repairs to engine, Weka, for ±'3o 10s. The Treasurer reported for August, 1905: General account, dr.i £4385 16s; loan account, 1 cr., £719 13s id. Net debit balance, £3666 2s nd. Tramway report.—The credit balance for the month’s working was £j 5s 4d. For the six months ended September 30th expenditure was £1407 6s id and receipts £139619s nd, leaving a debit balance of £xo 6s 2d. Against this there are two additional waggons, which cost £IBO, and nine tarpaulins at a cost of £25. Metal snd clay are being supplied to ’ Pakipaki road. The maintenance and repairing of line has proceeded satisfactorily. The Chairman reported that a vote of £l5O had been granted tor FoxtonPalmerston road, three miles of which are unfinished. The Engineer thought it would be advisable to metal the road as far as the money would go. He was accordingly instructed to draw out specifications to that effect. Cartain information will have to be sent to Government before the money is available.
