Haining Street Tragedy.
THE INQUEST ON KUM YUNG,
An inquest touching the death of Joe Kum Yung, was opened at the Wellington Hospital on Tuesday before a jury, with Mr J. Ashcroft, as coroner. After hearing the evidence, the juxy found the following verdict: “ That Joe Kum Yung’s death was caused by a bullet-wound inflicted by Lionel Terry.” “ Wilfully,” asked the Coroner. “ I cant say,” replied the foreman. “ It is rather important,” suggested Mr .Ashcroft.
“ I hardly like to put it that way,” replied the foreman.
Throughout the hearing, Terry acted in the most cool and unconcerned maimer, and at times appeared to take little or no interest in the proceedings. It is said a great rush has set in for his pamphlet “The Shadow,” the price of which rose trom 6d to as much as 2s.
Terry will be brought before the Magistrate on Monday next on the capital charge.
