Finding of a Body.
FLOATING IN THEMANAWATU
RIVER,
Early this morning, Mr Ff&nk Lawton, in charge of Levin and Cth’s river boat “ Kate,” discovered thy body ot a man floating in the nvtrr opposite Symons’ old mill. He accordingly communicated with the police, who set off with search of the body. In the me m ime, Mr F, Glover, ia charge of the “ Matara,” took thedrody on board his craft a id brought it ‘to the boating sired, where it now lavs. Mr W, Ternll identified the remains as those ot Campbell, who was drowned at Oroua Bridge in July last. An inquest will be held at the Court-house at 8 o’clock to-night, when Captain Mowlein, of Palmerston North, will act as coroner. It is understood the finding of the body carries with lit a reward. Those engaged on the, “ Kate ” were Messrs F. Lawton, VV. Hooker, J. Boyden and Erffelbain, whilst Messrs F. Glover, W. Glover, and Arthur Turner comprised the crew of the “ Matara.”
