The conversazione held last evening in the Masonic Hall in aid of the local Presbyterian Manse building fund was a most successful affair, the hall being almost filled.
A choice programme of musical items was submitted, which met with an appreciative reception that could not fad to delight promoters and performers alike. The Rev. James Doull, of Bulls, presided, and in a few appropriately chosen, words stated the object of the gathering. Then came the musics I programme, as follows Pianoforte overture, Mrs F, "Walls; song, “The dawn of peace,” Mrs Howorth ; instrumental duet, “ Home to our Mountains,” Messrs Betty (euphonium) and Llovd (cornet); song, “ Rothsey Bay,” Mrs Olemett; song, “May-morning,” Mr H. N. Vivan (who had to respond to an encore, giving “ Long ago in Alcola ” ); duett, “ The sea of glass,” Mesdames Jno. Robinson and Clemett; ” sbng, “ The Prima Donna,” Miss Haywood; song, “ The Last Muster,” Mr H. Lyall; song, “The bonnv banks o’ Loch Lomond,” Miss P. Fraser; duet from “ Maritana,” Misses Drew; violin selection, Miss Aya Symons; pianoforte duet from “ Zampa,” Mrs Howorth and Miss Furrie; song, “Call mo back” (with violin obligato by Miss Ava Symons), Mrs J. Robinson; song, ■ “The lost Chord,” Mr A. D. Spiers: musical monologue. “ Not understood," Mr Vivian ; vocal duet, “ The maids o;' the Greenwood,” Miss Drew; song. “Douglas Gordon,” Miss Haywood; song. “ Evening song,” Mrs Howorth ; violin due*;, Misses Ava and Elsie Symons. Refreshments were handed round the room at the close of the programme, and the singing o'’ “ Cod be with you till we meet again ” closed the proceedings.
