Mr G. Nye, of Foxton, underwent a serious operation at Dr Patterson’s Nursing Home on Tuesday. Mr Nye is now progressing as satisfactorily aa can be exnected under the circumstances, having had very restiul nights. The doctor expects the critical period to he ended by to-morrow morning, and expressed ever,- satisfaction at his patient’s progress so far. Mr R. P. Greville, of the Lands and Survey Department, Palmerston North, has been selected to fill an impoitaut position in tho Geological Department under Dr Bell, the Director of Geological Survey. Mr Cbas. Prouse, who has been for some time in charge ot the Foxton branch of Messrs Prouse Bros.’ timber business, has taken over a farm property near Waverley, and leaves tor that place to-morrow.
