Mr Arkie, who has been for some little time past in the office of Mr R. Moore, solicitor, left on Monday for Dunedin where he intends to commence' practice for himself. By hist genial manner he made many friends during his short stay here, who, while regretting his departure, will be* pleased to hear of his succe.s in tpe future.
Mr J. C. Fowler, Provincial Organizer of the Farmers' Union, called at otir office tc lay. Mr Fowler Informs us that he intends shortfy to make an extended visit among the fanners in this and adjacent district?, with the view of organizing branches of the Union. • He also states that he has just completed a tour of the district from Tokomaruljto Pahautanui, opening new branches and adding'to the strength of those already organized, with the result that there has been a very large accession to the Farmers* Union generally.
