Tuesday was largely taken up with the adjourned debate on the Premier’s motion, “That a committee he appointed to consider all matters relating to school teachers, education, and public instruction generally, publicschool training of teachers, higher education, technical education, and manual instruction, and such other matters affecting education as may hf referred to it; to have power to call for persons and papers ; five to form a quorum; The committee'to consist of Messrs J. Russell, Sir W. 1. Steward, t nd the mover,”— The motion was earned. The second readme of the Criminal Code Amendment Bill. (McGowan) was agreed to. Section ig6 of the principal act (relating to the crime of assaulting girls between the ages of twelve and sixteen) is amended by repealing the words “ one month,” and extending the time in which a case maybe brought to six months. Power is given to clear the Court, and to for bid the report of proceedings in such cases.

The second reading of (lie Convicts’ Forfeiture Act Amendment Bill and the Destitute Persons Act Amendment Bill was agreed to.
