Those Extra J’s.P.
TO TUB EDITOR OP THE MAHAWATD HKRAI3. Sir, —it is over six weeks since I wrote a letter advocating the creation of more J’s.P., and it is over a month now since a petition largely signed by local residents in favour of the same was forwarded to the Minister for Justice. I am informed that at the last meeting of the 'Borough Council a letter was received from the office of that official stating that the names mentioned in the petition were approved of and would be added to the list of new J’s.P. now being compiled. Well that is a very thin end of the wedge, but no date is mentioned when the list will be completed. Possibly it may be some time after present Parliament breaks up. In the meantime Mr Fraser will, as in the past, have to do the majority of the work, as our worthy Mayor, who has taken Mr Simpson’s place, is not always available. Hoping to see the cause for the remark about Foxton being a “ one J.P. place ’ removed at an early date.—l am, etc,, LAWRENCE E. READE.
