Football.
NOTES. By “True Sport.” Old Boys attended hall practise last night in large numbers. They meet again to-morrow night. Jumping the fence to evade paying the gatekeeper is a common occurrence at Foxton football matches. The Executive intend to keep a black list for recording the names of these defaulters.
Bill Hooker left this afternoon to attend gym. practise with the Manawatu reps, at Palmerston to-night. Although Leu Furrie will travel to Wanganui, it is doubtful whether his injured ankle will allow him to don the guernsey.
Avvahou held a stirring practise at the racecourse yesterday afternoon, whilst Huia were similarly engaged at Motuiti. Interest in Saturday’s game is particularly keen. Efforts are being made to secure either Messrs Foote or Manning as referee. The following team will represent Awahou against Huia on Saturday next;—F. Robinson, W. Coley, J. Prestling, Williamson, J. Joe, W. Robinson, J. Jillett, L. Carter, C. and G. Robinson, J. Coley, R. Jeffries, F. Williams, F. Charles, Meder. Emergencies: Spiers, Broad, Cook, and Cunningham.
