Wool, Skin and Hide Sales

Abraham and Williams, Ltd. held their monthly wool, skin, and hide sale to-day when they offered 12 bales and numerous bag lots wool, 1000 skins, and 150 hides. Buyers were present in good numbers and competition was keen and the market firm at ruling prices. Qnotatations: — Wool. X.B. fleece 7Ad to yjd, lambs yd, crutchings j-Jd to 6]d, locks 3d to 4Jd, pieces qfd to fid, dead y^d. Skins. X.B. short ytj-d, lambs to y.Ad, dead sfd, pelts is fid to 23 id, green skins from 4s, 5s 2d, to fis yd, green lambs 3s 3d to 3s 3d. Hides. Heavy ox 255, to 28s fid, medium 23s to 245, light 20s. Cows, heavy tSs to 199, light 15s fid to 16s fid, calves 2s fid to 4s fid. Tallow. Tins i]d. casks 18s par cwt, horse hair is per lb, (ails is qd per dozen. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., have received the following cablegram from their London office, dated 15th inst: — “We quote New Zealand Beet ox hinds iSo-2201bs f.a.q., 3.V.1 to 3f;d. Ox fores, ijd per lb. Less disposition to do business at the advance. New Zealand frozen mutton and lamb, prices are unchanged.” The Agent-General cabled on the 17th inst :—“ Hemp market is lifeless and stock is accumulating. Price of good fair Wellington grade, on spot, twenty six pounds. July-August shipments twenty-seven pounds.”
