Sir, —I think your Montoa correspondent is rather over-stepping the line when he says the “coach” had to beg and pray the “ boss ” of the ferry to put him over on June 2nd, as it was an understood thing between coachman and ferryman that he would cross him if he got back before dark. It is quite true that private traps, butchers’ carts, etc., were not allowed to cross on that'day, and had it been possible to cross the heavy load of passengers and mails (in the boat) in time to catch the train, the coach would certainly not have been crossed. I think when the floods wash away the cutting and one does not know whether he is going to land on the bank or in the river it is high time to stop the punt. —I am, etc., 1 Ferry. f
