A thanks notice appears from Mr and Mrs G. Colay in to-day’s paper. Messrs Liddell and family insert a thanks notice in to day’s issue. Messrs Wyatt Clark and Co,, adyertise a sale at the Mart, Main street, on Saturday.
A licensing notice relative to to the Post Office Hotel, Foxton, is inserted to-day. The secretary of the Palmerston North Hospital Board has written acknowledging receipt of 5s from “Wager” towards the funds of the institution.
The Athletic Park Cycle Track Improvement Committee meet at the Herald Office to-night at eight o’clock, in connection with the work to be undertaken at the Park.
Captain Edwin telegraphed to day ; —Strong winds to gale from between north east and north and north and west; glass fall, tides good, sea con sideraible after 12 hours from now, rain probable. A special general meeting of the Foxton Rifle Chib will be held at Grav’s Post Office Hotel to-morrow evening, which all members should attend. The presentation of trophies will take place.

This has been dons in order not to clash with the Primitive MethodV Church social, which has been fixed for Wednesday. The annual meeting of the Grand Lodge of Freemason’s. N.Z.C.. is being held at Palmerston North this week. This evening a conversazione is being held. On Saturday the M. W, Grand Master Bro. A. H. Burton, accompanied bv the Grand Lodge officers, will visit Foxton and instal the W. M. and officers of Lodge Te Awabon. Lodge will be fyled at 2.30 p.m. At 8 o’clock in the evening the Grand Master will give a lecture, entitled *'Vanity Fair ” in the lower hall, to which the public will be admitted. The infant daughter of Mr Tyson, of Newman, died under distressing cirenmstances last Thursday evening. Early on Wednesday morning the child was given drink from a feeding bottle, when vomiting sat in. Later on the infant was again fed from the same bottle, and similar sickness followed. In emptying the content* of the feeding bottle the parents were horrified te find the remains of fifteen wax matches. A doctor was immediately requisitioned, but the child expired. At an inquest the jury returned a verdict of accidental death from phosphorus poisoning.
At the meeting of All Saints parishioners on Friday the following office-bears were elected :—Minister's churchwarden. Mr W, S. Stewart; peoples churchwarden, Mr A. S. Easton ; vestrv. Messrs F. E. Jenks, R. T. Betty, W, Nve, F, H. Morgan, F, W. Frankland, J. N. Svmons, F. H. Fraser; auditor C. F. K. England. A comparative statement of receipts with those fr the previous vear will be furnished at a later date. Votes of thanks were accorded to all who had worked so heartily for the church and Sunday school during the past year,
