Shipping and Mails.
PORT OF FOXTON. The German ship Nordsee accomplished an excellent sailing feat, having arrived at Melbourne in 78 days from Bremen. She covered the distance from Lizard Point to the Equator in 14 days, but lost time between the Equator and the meridian of the Cape, but she sailed thence across the Southern Ocean to Port Philip in rg days. News has beeen received from the German Archipelago, which states that the whole of the planters in German New Guinea and New Britain, of every nationality, have signed an agreement binding themselves to ship produce by the Norddeutchar Lloyd’s steamers to Australia. The agreement operates from October Ist for five years and practically means the extinction ot the Australian vessels trading to these groups. High Water at Manawatu Bar.
