The Aden irontier dispute has been finally settled, the Porte accepting the British proposals. Mr Gilkison has definitely decided to contest the Taupeka seat in the Opposition interest at the general election. ~ „ Sir John Cockburn, addressing the National Association for the Manual. Training of Teachers at Birmingham, advocated manual training as a highroad to mental development. A large fire was raging at Thursday Island yesterday. Several premises have been destroyed, the damage already being £6OOO. Twenty other business places were threatened, and a strong wind is blowing.
