Mr Stevens’ Criticisms.
REPLY BY. MR VILE. TO THE EDITOR OF MANAWATU HERALD. Sir, —It is not my intention to enter into a political controversy with yonr correspondent Mr John Stevens through the medium of the press. Mr Stevens asks the electors to take any statement I may make cum grano salis and I advise your readers to similarly receive, any statement he may choose to make. Mr Stevens’ letter is biassed and written in a strain of emnity quite unworthy of an old political campaigner. He evidently cannot yet forget that the electors ot Manawatn in 1902 rclogated him to private life, because of his want of political warmth, and his evident inability to (in his own words) do other than addle fertile eggs. Ido not propose to take any further notice of Mr Stevens until the dissolution of Parliament next November, or earlier, when if he is again a candidate I she !! be only too happy to reoly to his political criticisms. —I am-, etc.. J. Vile.
