The Mullah has pledged himself to prohibit slavery and the importation of arms into Somaliland. Italy will send a resident to the Mullah's seat. In the Italian Chamber of Deputies Signor Titton, (Foreign Minister) announced that the pacification of the Mullah had drawn closer bonds of friendship between Britain and Italy. fThe ship Brynhilda, bound from Melbourne to Queenstown, wheat laden, has returned to Sydney. She encountered rough weather off the New Zealand coast. The crew alleged that the ship was unseaworthy and refused to do their duty. Tha weather did not permit their reaching New Zealand, and the ship and to return to Sydney. The Hon A. J, Balfour has promised to reply to the statement adopted at Tariff Reform Leagues’ meeting on the 13th. Mr R. L. Enthwaite, a Victorian, who is at present lecturing in England, has been invited to oppose Mr Chamberlain for the Birmingham seat.
