Football.
NOTES. By “ True Sport.” I understand a pleasing football function is to take place on Saturday night. The Awahou Club met at the Post Office Hotel on Thursday night, when the following team were selected to do battle against Huia on Saturday next at the racecourse, play to coou mence at 3 p.m.:—Full-back, H. J'. Jillett; three-quarters, W. Coley, J. Coley, C. Robinson; five-eighth, F. Robinson; half, J. Prastling; wings, W. Robinson, J. Joe; forwards, R. Jeffries, L. Saville, B. Brown, L. Carter, J. Lee, J. Medow, Joe Jillett. Emergencies : Forwards, F. Williams, S. Wright, F. Childs; backs, |F. Whibley and Shadbolt. All player* who cannot attend are requested to notify Mr Joe Jillett, secretary. The Manawatu Rugby Union holds its annual meeting to-night, when, in all probability the question of Foxton section joining them will be brought before delegates for discussion. Such a course would be advisable, as the Foxton delegates will surely decide to affiliate with the Northern body. The local delegates are expected to meet on Saturday night. Therefore the Old Boys, Motuiti, and possibly Moutoa Clubs would do well to send two delegates each along. The representation of Awahou and Huia Clubs is assured. Get to business, boys, in earnest, and show the football public that you mean ‘business’ this coming season. Decide to throw in your lot with Manawatu, and you must progress.
