NEW ZEALAND v. AUSTRALIA. New Zealanders had to submit to another crushing defeat at the hands of Australia, the latter winning on Saturday by the big margin of an innings and 35S runs. The Australians closed their innings at nine wickets down for 593 runs. New Zealand, in the weakness of despair, essayed a second innings, which realised 141 runs, but this added to the Lilliputian figures of the first day (94) only brought the total to 235.
