Woods Williamson Company.
THE GARDEN OF LIES. The Woods-Williamson Company pay a return visit to Foxton on Monday, opening with “ The Garden of Lies,” a play in which they hava achieved almost phenomenal success. The furore which Justin Miles Forman’s remarkable novel created in the social and literary world on its first appearance, was more than accentuated on the production of the play at the St, James’ Theatre, London, where it is now running to crowded houses. The high opinion of the production by Home critics has been more than endorsed throughout New Zealand and wherever Mr Woods and Miss Williamson have played it. The fascinating story of the reckless daredevil, but withal noble-hearted, generoilS'SClded Denis Mallory, who risks his life and honour to save a woman’s reason; the grand and chivalrous love for the Irijncess that ennobles and redeems his Jtie , the thrilling situations, delicate comedy and dramatic climaxes that render the novel so absorbing, are in the play ail used with a strength and vigour of construction and knowledge of stagecraft that stamp the play as one of the most enthralling and interesting of the day. The characters of the Princess Eleanor and the poor art student, Denis Mallory, afford Miss Williamson and Mr Woods splendid opportunities, and j n no parts have they gained greater admiration. On Tuesday evening the company will P r f ent “My Wife's Mother ” a farcical comedy which ran for 650 nights at IheGlobe Theatre Londo n The box now °P e h at Frasel'o stationers shop’.
