Britain and Russia.
FINDINGS OF THE COMMISSION CRITICISED. AN INCONCLUSIVE REPORT. London, February 27. Commenting on the North Sea Com. mission’s report, the “ Daily Express” says the cquilibristic performance is political and not judicial. The “ Morning Post ” considers that no bne desires to further accentuate the censure of Admiral Rozhdestvensky. The “ Daily Telegraph ” believes (he palliations will strengthen and not diminish the significance of the finding, while the “ Daily Chronicle” is of opinion that England is victorious on the facts and Russia on the conclusions. The “ Daily Mail” considers the tone of the report has a full effect on the condemnation of Russia.
The Japanese press ridicule the finding as the conclusion is calculated to discredit the operation of International Courts.
The Russian press amplifies the compliments and minimises the censures, while the public are disappointed. The American press is generally sarcastic at the determination to whitewash Russia.
The Paris newspaper “ Le Temps ” regards the report as wholly opportunist and perhaps fictitious, while the “ Republique Francaise ” says England practically wins. Admiral Davis considers the report practically sustains all the English case.
Paris, February 27. Admiral Davies (American representative on the Commission) supported Admiral Beaumont (Great Britain’s representative) throughout the hearing. Admiral Fournier, the French representative, adopted a conciliatory attitude.
