Cooper’s Biograph Coy.
In the Public Hall on Monday night next Cooper’s Biograph Coy. will give one of thfir enjoyable entertainments, and we have no doubt the public will appreciate the interesting performance to be given. One ot the principal features of the evening will be pictures of the British New Zealand football match. As the play progresses the lecturer will describe the different scores made. Pictures are shown of McGregor, the “ flying Scotchman,” who gained two tries for the Colony, and Wallace. A representation of “ Uncla Tom’s Cabin,” and pictures descriptive of the Russo-Japanese war constitute an attractive series, while the comic element is provided for in pictures dealing with circus life. During the performance, Mr Sheldon will render several vocal items, besides giving an exhibition of hisventriloquial powers and Miss Lillie Sheldon and Mr Kindley will also contribute to the programme. The principal feature of the programme will no doubt be that depicting the international football match between Britain and New Zealand. When at Invercargill the New Zealand team were shown filing on to the ground led by the popular captain, an Invercargill player, vociferous applause was given, and the appearance of the British representatives was the occasion for a similar demonstration, only in a less degree. The play is said to be capitally depicted—scrums, line outs, and rushes being represented in an interesting manner, though the task of obtaining a satisfactory film of a football match is one of the most difficult a machine could be set to perform. As the game is in progress the different incidents are described, and the methods by which the scores were obtained by New Zealand.
