Farewell to “ Bun ” Cook.

———- Last night the members of the Old Boys’ Cricket Club gathered together to bid farewell to their captain (Mr W. Co'pk), who has received instructions from' the Railway Department to proof - ■ to Wellington, where he is to take PP & position in the Telegraph Office p£ the Government Railway Station.

Mr Fnrric said It would be a great loss to the Old Boys losing » good player like Mr Cook, who through the football and cricket season was one of the mainstays of the team ; but what would be their loss would be one of the Wellington Club’s gain. Mr Cook, in replying, said it wa» with extreme regret that he received the news that he was to be shifted, but he would always remember with pleasure the good times he had had as a member of the Old Boys’ Club. Mr Hall (Sec. Palmerston Old Boys’ Club), said he was very pleased to be present at this function, and that he hoped later on to see Mr Cook a senior rep. Mr J. Frew also spoke of the esteem in which Mr Cook was held in Foxton.

During the evening songs wero contributed by Messrs A. Shadbolt and Cook, and after Mr Cook’s health had been drunk the singing of “ Auld Lang Syne ” brought a very enjoyable evening to a close.
