Montgomery's New Specialty Company.
Foxton theatre-goers can look ward to a theatrical treat bn Tuesday and Wednesday evenings, Feb. 14th and 15th, when Mr Montgomery will introduce his new company, Since playing here about 12 months ago, Mr Montgomery has strengthed his forces considerably, and has succeeded in engaging the renowned comique, Mr Tod Callaway, This artist can keep an audience amused for nearly att hour. His songs and “ business " are quite original. He catches the public from the moment he steps on the stage. Mr Montgomery will show for the first time in Foxton Edison's big biograph, said to be the very latest machine in the moving picture line. Mr Montgomery holds the reputation of showing the best moving pictures, but with the new machine he can, it is believed, take first place with any pictures in the world. Amongst the pictures to be shown by this machine are two of the longest yet taken for reproduction, viz., “ The Great American Train Robbery,” which shows the signalman in his box being compelled to send ialse orders to stop the train ; the robbers then board the train, and proceed to the main van, and after killing the officer in charge, blow up the safe, and secure the valuables. They then make all the passengers step out of the train, and relieve them of what they possess, afterwards escaping on the engine. The mounted police being informed of the robbery, start in pursuit. The final shows the the robbers surrounded by police, and a desperate fight in which the police are victorious, and makes a very exciting finish. The other picture is shown by permission of the Royal National Lifeboat Institute, London, and deals with the life and work of the lifeboat men of Worthing, working at their station on the Goodwin Sands. This set of pictures received very flattering notices from the Wellington Press. The company has just concluded a most successful season of six nights at the Wellington Opera House. Other members of the company are Mr Edward Montgomery, Zeno (the classic juggler), Miss Ethel Hargood, Miss Blanche Hargood, Miss Esther Norden, A.L.C.M., and Mr Lawrence Redwood. Mr Will Jameson, business manager for the company, arrived in town on Tuesday evening, and is now making arrangements for the company’s appearance here.
