Late News.

Before Messrs G. A. Simpson and A. Fraser, J.’sP., this morning, Hans. Andresen was fined £i and costs 6s or seven days imprisonment for working a horse in an unfit state to be utilised. The sound of the engine whistles screeching at about n o’clock this morning brought the whole town out-of-doors, all scanning for a fire outbreak. Such proved to be the case at Hickson and Reeves’ flaxmill. The conflagration occurred in the scutching shed, but luckily the flames were extinguished before any material damage was done.
