THE KAISER’S MESSAGES. The f’zar in thanking the Kaiser, said that General Stoessel had gallantly done his duty to the end the head of a brave garrison. The Mikado warmly appreciated the*kind wish to confer on General Nogi the highest distinctions of the Prussian army. Both messages acknowledged the Kaiser’s encomiums of the heroism of the respective forces at Port Arthur.
The Nagasaki municipality voted £650 sterling to entertain the Russian prisoners during their journey to Japan. DISSATISFIED WITH KUROPATKIN. There is increased dissatisfaction at General Kuropatkin’s inaction and incessant demands for reinforcements. Some have made the suggestion that he ought te be recalled. The Russian officers are greatly impressed at their kind reception at Nagasaki and declare the Japanese occupy the highest ethical position among the nations and predict that they will be close friends after the war.
