Marden School.
THE ANNUAL “ BREAK-UP,” (Contributed.) ■ While the flax-mills on both sides of the river were working on Friday last, there was one exception—there was a still stand at Marden’a Mill. One could see busy bodies moving about and pitching a tent near the little Bcboolbouse. It was the breaking-up for the usual holidays. The children which are only a small number, gathered together with the grown up folks and infants, and , began racing. About 2.30 p.m. a very enjoyable afternoon tea was served, which was followed by the distribution of some very valuable prizes oy Bro. Fox: — ~ Standard V. —Elsie Marden, “The Girls Empire.” Standard IV. -Winnie Child and Wilkie Marden, “ Young England.” Standard lll.—Jack Child, “Wonderbook.” Standard 11. Violet Marden, “ Wonderbook.” Third Primer.—Harry Proctor, Albert Wyeth, and Oirie Marden, each “ Bubbles.” Second Primer.—Mary Proetor, Barbara Proctor, Arnold Marden, and Magi Witi, all appropriate books. Two special prizes by Miss Drury, the teacher, for writing, were won by William Child (“ Robinson Crusoe”) and Jack Child (" Masterman Ready.”) Two special prizes by Mrs Child's for diligence were won by William Child and Wilkie Marden. Afterwards there were to be seen lime-light views at the schoolroom, the day’s pleasure eventually ending with a social and dance.
