Sunday School Picnic.

All Saints Sunday School and the Presbyterian School held their annual outing together on Saturday. The place of gathering was A. S. Easton’s homestead on the Motoa Estate. Carts for conveyance were very kindly supplied by Messrs Easton, G, Coley, and Q. Austin. In addition, Mr C. A. Spiers thoughtfully provided a coach. In these vehicles, the children and teachers set out at- 10.30 a.m. Within an hour all were safely camped before the homestead in the grateful shelter of the well-grown trees. Mr Easton bad prepared a large shed for use in case of rain; but this, happily, was not needed. The day became beautifully fine; and the sunshine coloured all faces warmly. After dinner, races were run in a careful system on the lawn, sweets were scrambled for, and rounders, cricket and other games quite filled the hours of the afternoon, till tea was announced. At a few minutes to six all were ready for the homeward journey. The ricar then called for three cheers for Mr Easton and for Mrs Seymour (the housekeeper at the homestead) who bad supplied hot water and milk for both meals. The cheers were very heartily given, and Mr Easton, in reply, expressed his happiness in being host to such a happy party, and hoped that h« might see dll their faces at the pienio next summer. Cheers were then given for the donors of the conveyances and the drivers, and soon . the merry procession Wits on the - road for Foxton. Mrs W. 8. Stewart directed the work of her teachers, and Miss Furrie was in charge of the children of the Presbyterian School. Amongst a host of contributors to the refreshments, only a few are mentioned here. Mrs Wright and Messrs Spring and Oummerfield gave tins of sweets, Messrs 0 T. Easton and Howan and Shadbolt supplied sandwich meat, and Mr Mark Perreau gave the bread.
