JAPS HOLD CAPTURED POSITIONS. The attempt to recapture fort 208 was heavily repulsed. , The Japanese are finding sailors among the Russian dead. Marshal Oyama’s reports claim that the skirmi- L c ; on the Russian left dank favoured the Japanese. There are 26,000 troops at Viadivostock. Japanese peers acclaimed the exploits of the army and navy and tendered their thanks. It is reported at Shanghai that the guns at Viadi vostock sank a Russian destroyer which was returning from scouting. General Makamura was wounded in the legs.
