JUDGE AS A TARGET. LONDON, December-i. The Daily Telegraph’s New York correspondent states that the Rev. Isaac Selby, of Australia; shot at Judge Hebbard while his Honor was seated on the Bench in San Francisco, The shot, however, missed, and his Honor escaped uninjured. Selby recently sought a divorce from his wite, and conducted his own case. Judge Hebbard’s decree in favour of the clergyman’s wife enraged Selby. Selby is not unknown in this colony, having travelled New Zealand as a freethought lecturer in the eighties. Selby’s marriage to an Auckland woman of diverse religious views was the subject of some comment inWellington at the time.
