“A Bull in a China Shop.”
A bull in a china shop has often been heard of but seldom seen, but had anyone been near a certain country store not a hundred miles from Woodville on Monday afternoon they would have seen a bull in a grocery store. Only the lady members of the family were at home, and one of these, fancying she heard a customer, went into the shop and to her horror behald a black bull behind the counter, hig head in the window calmly sampling the chocolate creams and cigarettes ! A hasty retreat was beat 't& the back parlour where a council of war was held. It was decided to paake a movement on the right flank of the enemy and come up on his front. This was executed with the dash and vigour of a Kuroki, and a demonstration with a broom and the kitchen poker was made on the verandah. This was entirely successful, the enemy quitting his looting and attempting to escalade the counter. Failing in this he retreated and made a dash for the front door. The demonstrating party hereupon executed another flank movement this time to the rear, and like Macbeth’s guests “ they stood not on the order of their going but they went.” The bull was lodged in the pound, but has since broken out.
