THAT CRICKET STRUGGLE.—A CORRECTION.
TO THE EDITOE OF THE MANAWATD HERALD. Sir, —In your report of the cricket match between the Debating Society and Foxton All-comers, you state that “ the Debaters cried enough after one innings.” I would point out this was not so. The Debating Society were anxious to play a second innings in the hope that they would redeem their poor stand in the first, but the captain of the winning team did not wish to continue the game.—l am, etc. E. Spelman, Capt. D.B.C.C, [These explanations are welcome. Probably time did not permit of a second innings, or it might have been thoughts of afternoon tea which hastened the conclusion of the game. However, there may be more cricketing weather ahead, so the Debating Society will have the opportunity extended of gaining laurels by redeeming their poor stand of Wednesday last. — Ed. M.H.]
