Wellington Wool and Skin Sales.
Messrs Levin & Go’s- Report. We offered to-day 50 bales ofiwool, 8000 skins, 200 hides, and a quantity of tallow. A proportion of the wool was the new season clip, and for this there was good competition. Good clean crossbred brought B|d, and several parcels of medium crossbred brought 8d and BJd. There is every evidence of strong competition for the wools which will be offered on Thursday, 24th inst., when the sales for the new season open here, and growers are advised to push their Clips forward for that sale. We quote;— Skins.—Merinos, 7«i to 7fd ; halfbreds, 7d to 7fd ; fine crossbreds, 6Jd to7id; coarse, 6|d to 7d; short wools, 6d to sfd ; dead, to s£d ; butcher’s green up to 7? 5d,... Tallow."—There was only some poor quality offering, for which there was not much demand. In casks, 19s to 19s 6d per owt; tins, 17s; rough fat, 14s. -> Hides.- Cows : Light, 10s 6d to 12a; medium, 12s to 14s; heavy, 14s to? 16s. Ox : Light, 15s to 18s; medium, 18s to 22s 6d; heavy, 23s to 265. Wellingtoh, 11th Nov., 1904.
