Methodist Bazaar.

The doors o£ the Public Hall were opened yesterday afternoon, when good business was done by the bazaar attendants. The official opening took place last evening by His Worship the Mayor (Mr G. A. Simpson), who, in a few appropriate words, wished the Bazaar all - the success it deserved. Then the lady attendants set to work with a will, disposing of tickets in either a shooting or nail-driving contest. The inside Of the hall is gaily festooned which lends considerable pleasure to the visitor. There is a Christmas Tree, from which hangs anything from a tin gee-gee to the ruddy-faced doll, while the gaily decorated 1 bicycles on exhibition give the stage a smart appearance. During the evening, pianoforte selections were contributed by Misses Haywood, North, and-Mrs Dunkley, The Foxton Borough Band were unavoidably absent, .but selections from this quarter will form part of to-night’s programme. Mrs Nye acted in the capacity of door-keeper. The Japanese costumes of the Tea Kiosk attendants were much admired. The following were in charge of the different stalls : Fancy . Stall, - Meadimiea C. C. Collins, jnr., and Knewstub. Refrfcshmetit G Stiles, Cummerfmld, and Miss Speirs. Tea Kiosk.—Misses Austin (2), and Simpson (2). Sweets Stall. —Misses Cummerfield and Langley. Guild Stall.—Mesdames Walker and Harris. .Christmas Tree, —Miss Eva Staff. Shooting Gallery.—fljx M. Walker and assistants. Nail Driving.—Messrs' G. Stiles and M. Perreau. PRIZE-WINNERS. Those winning prizes through the medium of the shooting gallery were ;—Mrs Harris, cushion; Messrs W. Coley, A. Shadbolt, cushions ; Harris, stool. Mr Staff was rewarded with a cushion for winning the mens nail-driving, whilst Miss Spiers won the prize, a biscuit barrel, for being the suceessful lady nail-driver. Mrs Walker also won a biscuit-barrel. The bazaar will be open again tonight.
