FIERCE FIGHTING AT PORT ARTHUR. There was fierce fighting at Port Arthur on the 30fch. Heavy forces of Japanese tried to secure a commanding position near the main forts. The result is unknown. A mine exploded at Moji injuring the Japanese steamer Ohiyodamaru, killing 10 and injuring many. JAPS TUNNEL UNDER A FORTRESS. Advices from Tokio state that sappers have tunnelled for a long distance, nearly to the heart of the fortress, in Port Arthur. During the storming of Erlungshan fort the Japanese climbed an almost vertical hill, using the holes caused by the bombardment as footholds, and then rushed the position after half-an-hour’s fierce resistance.
