The Manawatu Show.
A synopsis of th.e programme tor the Manawatu and West Coast A. and P. Show, commencing to-morrow, dis j closes that in all departments of the Show excellent entries have been received for all the different competitions, and well filled classes in all departments ot stock. On each ot the days of the Show, competitions are to be held'in the King immediately in front of the stands. For the four military competitions On the first day there are 4& entries, arid tllC Maiden Hunters 17. On the second day there are 15 entries’ for the" Steeplechase Competition,- and on the third day for the Tandem, Single Driving, Ladies’ Competitions, Pony and Hunters Jumping Competition 80 entries, and 15 for the Wood-chopping event. Thursday, the second day of the Show, is what might be termed the Live Stock Breeders’ Day, as it is devoted entirely to the judging of all kinds of live stock. In horses, thoroughbreds are well represented this year, indicating the progress made in this class of stock. In the cattle division will be found representatives of eight different breeds of pure-bred stock; Shorthorn, Ayrshire, Polled Angus, Hereford, Jersey and Holstein Fresians, Red Polled and Kerry cattle, besides dairy and fat stock. Sheep, pigs, dogs, poultry, and pigeons are all well represented. In addition thereto, there is a' large section called “ The Industrial,” which comprises the farm, dairy, horticulture and needlework, also art sections for technical and public schools. The display of agricultural implements and vehicles is on a very large scale, and has not been exceeded in the island. Amongst the up-to-date appliances will be found an agricultural motor waggon capable of drawing six tons. .The manyconvenienoes provided on the ground for the visitofsm the shape of luncheon booths, tea rooms, fruit stalls and , covered accommodation will contribute in making a visit an enjoyable one, notwithstanding any. inclemency of the weather that may exist. Excursion tickets will be issued at the Foxton- Station from to-morrow, so that the suitable trains from this quarter should be well packed daily. The railway time-table is published in another column.
