Sir, —A fortnight or so ago, our “ City FilthCrC ” passed !i nlOtion authorising the Library Committee to purchase zoo additional volumes for the lending library; Apparently the Library Committee has not yet met, and no one seems to know when it is going to meet. I would like to enter a protest against this ipethdd of doing things—or rather of leaving things undone. Like the people of Hamelin in Browning’s famous poem, I would say to the Library Committee: “ Rouse Up, Sirs, Give your brains a racking," " Or, sure as fate, we’ll send yon packing.'’ ; f ant, etc., Progress.
