Grand Catholic Bazaar.
The above Bazaar was continued on Thursday and Friday evening with unqualified success. Business has been exceptionally brisk throughout, and a large siim .of money should be raised as a result of the untiring efforts of all concerned with the Fair. Vocal items were contributed on Thursday evening by Misses Hurley (duet) and Mr G. Barber (solo), though it was poor satisfaction to these gifted vocalist* to strain their voices so as to be heard above the din of the throng doing business o'n the! floor of the hall below. A cornet sold by Mr McKinney on Thursday night and a violin Solo by Mr P. Mcßraiety last evening pleased their respective audiences. Last evening Miss A. Collins and M. Alzdorf impersonated Irish washerwomen to effect in a “ Jig. 1 ’ Another item worthy of mention was a pianoforte duet by the Masters East. Mr A. Harper also contributed a solo. Other pleasing items given each evening are Jigs and Hornpipe by Master Beck (Manakau), the Maypole Dance by ii ydUng girls and 13" boys, the Highland Fling by eight young ladies attired in Scottish garb, and a graceful minuet dance by equally graceful lady dancers; It is worthy of note that Miss Hurley, of Manakau, supplies most of the piano accompaniments in a finished and artistic style. We owe an apology to the ladies whose names were inadvertently omitted from the list of those who are lending a helping hand, which we published’on Thursdaylast. However, we have the. amended list supplied us to-dajr for publication : Britannia Stall (Fine Art Needle Work and Painting).—Mesdames Quin and Levett. The assistants were Misses E. and M. This stall is a leading attractioij , & qf the Bazaar. The supper table is always loaded with . all the luxuries’that . can be obtained at a first-class confectionery establishment, cream puffs being a favourite delicacy. The geniality of Mesdames Hooker and Hurley is too well-known to need comment, while the smiling faces and winning ways of their assistants is not the least attraction of their stall.
