Flaxmillers’ Association.
A large and influential meeting of flaxmillers, representing practically the whole of the Manawatu and adjoining districts, was held at Palmerston on Thursday. Mr Geo, Simpson and Mr 0. Austin, of Foxton, were appointed treasurer and secretary respectively for the time being. The business of the meeting was to resuscitate the Now Zealand Flax millers’ Association and a resolution to that effect was carried. , It was also decided to register the Association under the Companies Act. ( . .. A sub-committee Was appointed to draft rules and regulations for the guidance of the Association and a subsequent meeting will be held in Palmerston at which these' will be submitted, and a permanent chairman and secretary appointed. It was decided to circularise all the flaxmillers and others interested in the industry, asking their support and attendance at meetings. Member’s subscriptions were fixed at £l. At the next meeting it was decided to discuss the question of grading, accident insurance and several other important matters requiring special treatment.—Standard.
