Manawatu Rowing Club.

.The annual meeting of this Club, held last night in the Racing Club’s Office, was - very poorly attended. Present Capt. B. G. Gower (in the chair), Yice-Captain J. Symons, Treasurer J. F. Overeud, Secretary R. \ioore, and Messrs ,T. Gillespie, F. Ray, L. J. Fume, P-denies, J. Marshall, A. Ross, .and W. E. Barnard. ; -‘The 14th annual balaffi;e-§heet and report Were read by the secretary. The former showed a credit balance of £3 18s lOd, as against £3 10s;lOd the previous year,. The Club's assets were .estimated at ill 18 13s. The report dealt with the member ship during the previous year, which was fairly good, and the want of care taken of the boats by members. Reference was also made to the fine imposed in May on five members for breach of the rules, and the ill-, feeling • caused, through the matter being referred to in the press./ Considerable arose, on this matter. —Mr Marshall protested against the fine being imposed at all, : as the matter he considered was too ; trivial to be worth notice. The Captain pointed out that the breach was in his, opinion far from being trivial. Mr Furrie objected to the matter having been referred to by an editorial in the press. —The committee disclaimed any connection with such publication, and the secretary pointed out that if the injured member’s had any remedy it was against him alone and not tbe committee. The following executive was elected : President, His Worship the Mayor (Mr G. A. Simpson) ; ‘Yiptain, Mr B. G. Gower; ViceCaptain, Mr J. Symons ; Treasurer, Mr J. F. Overend ; Secretary, Mr Moore; Committee, Messrs G. H. Stiles, L. J. Furrie, E. Healey, aud officers ex-officio. The first meeting of the new committee will be held in the j secretary’s office on Tuesday week at 8 p.m. *
