Foxton Lawn Tennis Club.
ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of this Club was held at Mr W. S Stewart's residence on Friday evening with Mr P. Hennessy in the chair. The report and balance-sheet, duly audited, were read by the secretary, and unanimously adopted as read. # The following officers were then duly elected for the conjing^seaaon: Patron, Mr F. W. Frankland j President, Mr Simpson (Mayor); Vice-Presidents, Messrs H. Austin, T Hayward, P. Hennessy, and Symons; Committee, Messrs Bruce, H. Frankland, O. Robinson, Stewart and Stiles, and Misses Austin, Collins, Hamer, Purcell, and Wanklyn; Treasurer, Mr Bruce; Secretary, Mr H. Frankland. It was agreed that the subscriptions for the coming season be as follows : Gentlemen 10s, ladies ss. The opening day was fixed for Wednesday, Oct. 12th, at 2 p.m. It is anticipated that their will be a large attendance of members and their friends. Afternoon tea has kindly been promised by the lady members of the Committee, * It was agreed that Rule 11 be altered to read ; “ Subscriptions fall due Oct. Ist and must be paid by NovJ Ist ”; and that Rule 20 should lead, “ That members provide their own tennis balls.” New members were elected as follows; Misses P. and 0. Fraser, Hpiera and Walden, Messrs Bruce and H. Frankland. After the transaction of other necessary business, a vote of thanks was passed to the retiring secretary (M» W. S. Stewart) for the exceedingly energetic and conscientious manner in which he discharged his many duties since the inceptioijk of the Club eleven years ago. To this Mr Stewart replied with a few wellchosen words.
