KUROPATKIN’S REINFORCEMENTS. Twelve military trains, conveying 1700 fully equipped men, daily reinforce General Kuropatkin. The Russians at the front are without warm clothing, and are wearing Chinese padded dressing gowns. Field-Marshal Oyama has issued a proclamation calling on the army to make a supreme effort. RECENT FIGHTING. A Japanese official telegram claims that the Japanese defeated the Russians on the 20th Inst., taking Santungku, 60 miles north-easf of Liaoyangt and driving them northward. It is also claimed that they repulsed a strong reconnaissance on the 18th inst. thirty miles north-east of Liaoyang, and that that the Russians lost heaving owing to their retreating in close formation. MILITARY RIOTS. Anti-military riots have occurred at Odessa, the residents refusing to start for the front. A detachment of troops sent to suppress the disturbance, refused to obey orders. The Times’ military Critic urges the Japanese cavalry to emulate the Boers in train-wrecking tactics.
