Parliament.

HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES. In the House the Licensing Bill was further considered in Committee, the postponed clauses being taken first. Clauses 12 and 13, relating to a change of boundaries of the districts, were passed with a technical alteration. Clause 22, providing for a fresh poll, was amended to read that no fresh poll shall be valid unless the number of valid votes recorded thereat is not less than fifty-five per cent of the number of valid votes recorded at the voided poll. The House resumed at 7.80. In Committee, on the Licensing Bill, several postponed clauses were agreed to, with technical amendments. The House then proceeded to deal with the new clauses. A lengthy discussion took place on a new clause proposed by the Premier, to cope with the locker or money box system in Clubs. Considerable opposition was shown to the clause on the ground that it was an unwarrantable 'interference with the liberty of the subject.
