OLD BOYS v. WANDERERS. These two teams met again yesterday, but the game was not at any stage exciting, the Old Boys showing far superior play in all departments. The Old Boys won the toss and kicked off. Wanderers started back with a determined dribbling rush, and for a while it looked as though they would go right through, but Duun picking up smartly passed to Furrie, who in turn transferred to B. Cook, and this player crossed the line and scored first blood for Old Boys. G. Dunn was entrusted with the kick, and (registered a pretty goal. Old Boys s—Wanderers5 —Wanderers o. On the ball being kicked off again play hung in the centre of the field for tully fifteen minutes, until a passing rush Started by Furrie eventually ended irt G. Dunn crossing the line and scoring Old Boys second try. The kick at goal fsiled to increase the points— Old BoyS fi—Wanderers o. On play resuming Wanderers seemed to rally and some real good work was put In by Wilson and J. Coley, the latter player looking as if he could not help Scoring, but Spider (A. Overend) came quickly on the scene and kicked the ball into touch. On being thrown in Williams marked right under the Old Boys’ goal posts. The kick at goal was a very feeble attempt. Half-time then sounded. Wanderers kicked off in the second spell, and for a time some good kicking was done by the backs of both teams, especially by Overend (Old Boys), who with age and weight will make a first-class man. Free-kicks was the general order of things in this spell, Old Boys having no less than 18 given against them for off-side play. Eventually Old Boys got possession, G. Dunn passing to Cook* who transferred to J. Dunn, who •cored. The try was disallowed. On being kicked out from the 35 yards’ mark the Old Boys came back with a determined rush, from which J. Dunn scored. The kick at goal failed. The whistle shortly afterwards sounding left Old Boys the winners by n points to nil. Mr J. Frew had charge of the whistle, and Messrs Smith and Ball acted as line umpires. MEETING OF DELEGATES. A meeting of delegates from the local football clubs was held at Haywood’s Hotel on Saturday night to consider the protest lodged by the Huia teim in regard to the try scored by Kiwi. After considerable discussion it was decided to forward the protest to the Appeal Committee to be settled, Mr N. Heta saying |he would like to see the game replayed, as he was not clear on the point. Matches were then drawn to be played on Saturday as follows: Kiwi v. Motuiti at 2 p.m.; Huia v. Awahou at 3 p.m. 8.-Dunn was transferred from Motuiti to Kiwi. MEETING OF FOOTBALLERS. A meeting ct footballers from their respective Clubs was held at JMr J. T. Levett’s on Monday evening last tor the purpose of making some arrangements as to the best way of bringing the season to a close. After a good deal of discussion it was decided to have a dinner, each Club guaranteeing twenty-five members. After the dinner, a concert will be held which, we venture to say, will be one of the best yet held in Foxton. A strong committee was set up to make the arrangements, each Club being represented by two members. A fair amount of cash was promised by those present. Messrs J. Jillett and E. Dunn were elected joint secretaries. A hearty vote of thanks to Mr Levett for the use of the room closed the meeting.
