Valedictory.

The members of the Foxton Athletic Chib met in the Post Office Hotel on Saturday.afternoon to take farewell of one of their vice-presi-dents, Mr AV. Gray, who is leaving the district, and to make him a small presentation in recognition of his services to the Club,

Owing to the unavoidable absence of the President, Mr A, I) Clemett (a vice-president) made the presentation, and in tho course of a neat tlpeech expressed the general regret felt by the members in losing Mr Gray’s services. Mr Gray had always been a generous supporter of tlie Clnb, his donations, amongst others, including the handsome sum of £2O, which he had given last year to the prize fund. They could not allow him to depart without handing him a small token in recognition of his services and showing the high esteem in which he was held by the members of the Club, and wishing him success in his new sphere. Mr Gray, in replying, said he regretted severing his connection with the Club, and feelingly thanked the members for their handsome gift, which would always remind him of the many happy hours spent as a member of the Foxton Athletic Club. He wished the Club a successful season, and hoped it would continue to prosper. The gathering dispersed after the singing of “He’s a Jolly Good Fellow.” The presentation consistof a handsome gold signet'Ving and sovereign case, suitably inscribed.
