Fork in her body for- Six Years.
A remarkable story was told- to the East Sussex coroner at an inquest held on the body of Frances Guy, an inmate nf Headingly Asylum. The deceased had swallowed a fullsized plated fork some sis years ago, and had told the doctor that while she was looking into a mirror to examine her throat it bad slipped down. In April the asylum doctor noticed a change in her manner, and on examining her found the points of the fork protruding from her stomach. He operated and removed the fork, which the action of the acids had
eaten away iill the handle was as sharp as the edge of a razor. Though the operation was entirely successful, the wound failed to close, and the patient eventually died from exhaustion. A verdict of death from misadventure was returned.
